HEY HOCKEY FANS!!! It’s that time again to get your team colors out and to dust off those jerseys that have been sitting in the back of your closet to cheer on your team again! Whether it be NHL, ECHL, or SPHL; these teams and the players have become apart of your family and your entertainment through the years.
As you may know, I work for the Evansville Thunderbolts as an intern photographer and have for the last couple of seasons. It has been amazing to work in a sport that I have minimal experience with and grow my craft for the last couple seasons have been nothing short of amazing!! The excitement bustling through the crowd when the doors open and warm-ups start to the starting lineups even the roar the crowd makes when a fight breaks out. However, nothing stands a chance next to when your team scores a goal; the crowd goes WILD!! Trust me, I would know!
The reactions that I have captured over the seasons have been:
- Celebrations between players and crowd behind them
- A kids reaction to their favorite players notices them and gives them a puck
- A grandpa and his young grandson at his first hockey game with his little face against the glass
- Backstage lineups
- many more to come…

As we start this season, may we be courteous to those fans that know nothing about the sport that you are so passionate about. Don’t become hostile to the opposing teams or fans when they come to visit home rink or even online.
As January has started and the tensions are rising between players; which calls for EPIC fights, bloody noses, stitches, and missing teeth. Scoring a goal becomes more than a goal; it becomes more than that. It’s about another point towards the playoffs.
February and March have gone by which call-ups, players waived, returns, and switches; the teams have altered but had to preserve quickly. Some have raised to the challenge and others have deflated under pressure. This time is about fighting to the end goal: 2024 Playoffs!!
April is coming down to the wire with the last few regular home games before the midweek playoffs. The top 8 teams plays for the top two decadent spots for the championship title!
Check back for the news on the 2023-2024 SPHL Champion!
Who will reign supreme??
All the love,
Cheyenne
